The Marian Catholic High School wrestling team experienced a combination of victories and defeats at the East Suburban Catholic Conference tournament on January 24, 2025.
In the 120-pound weight class, Tristian Cooks competed for third place but was defeated by Alek Ramos of Nazareth Academy via fall at 1:03. At 126 pounds, Chase Tankson faced Michael Esteban of Marist in the semifinals, losing by fall at 1:41. However, Tankson rebounded in the consolation semifinals with a narrow 12-10 decision over Logan Mishka of Marist.
Jeremiah Bolar participated in the 132-pound consolation semifinals but was defeated by Eddie Astorga of Marist, who won by fall at 4:58.
In the 150-pound division, Jonah Greenwood achieved a victory in the first round of the consolation bracket after Tyrese Johnson of Marist withdrew due to injury. Nonetheless, Greenwood fell in the consolation semifinals to Jack Lorenz of Marist by fall at 1:59. Joseph Baranski competed in the 165-pound first-place match but was defeated by William Denny of Marist in a technical fall, with a score of 19-4 at 2:34.
Adrian Esparza secured a spot in the 175-pound finals after defeating Kevin Bartolotta of Marist in a high-scoring semifinal match, finishing with a score of 19-15. In the 190-pound quarterfinals, Jadyn Thomas narrowly lost in a close 5-4 decision against David Wolski of Marist.
Despite some challenging outcomes, Marian Catholic's wrestlers demonstrated resilience and determination throughout their performances at the conference tournament.
