Marian Catholic women’s track shines at state meet

Marian Catholic's women's track team delivered a commendable performance at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 2A state meet held at Eastern Illinois State University on Saturday.

According to the results, the Spartans' 400-meter relay team, composed of Syvonna Perry, Autumn Price, Kendyl Rainey, and Brooklyn Holmes, secured second place with a time of 47.44 seconds.

Holmes was a standout athlete throughout the meet. In addition to anchoring the relay team, she achieved fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.15 seconds. Holmes also contributed to another relay event, which included Perry, McKenzie Mixson, and Price, finishing third in the 400-meter relay with a time of 1:41.86.

Overall, Marian Catholic scored 20 points in the meet, resulting in a tie for 11th place in the state standings. The team's impressive showing highlighted their depth and versatility across multiple events.

The Spartan women demonstrated determination and teamwork during their participation at Eastern Illinois State University.
