Marian Catholic’s Nathan Brannon and Elijah Wagner achieved all-conference honors on Saturday at the Great Lakes Individual Championships, hosted by Maine West High School.
According to the event results, Brannon placed seventh in men’s epee, while Wagner finished eighth in men’s sabre. Brannon’s final bout was a closely contested match against a top-ranked opponent from University High, ending in a 14-14 tie before he lost on the decisive touch in overtime.
Several other Spartans also delivered strong performances, earning top-16 finishes. Martin Leedy and Jeirmyri Liddell, both juniors, placed in men’s sabre, while sophomore Brazil McGruder reached the top 16 in women’s sabre.
Freshman Jack O’Shea placed in men’s foil, while seniors Abigail Rose Wozniak (women’s foil) and Trinity Cowles (women’s epee) also secured top finishes.
