Marian Catholic head coach Curtis Crossley is entering his third season at the helm of the boys and girls track and field teams. He is eager to build on past successes and push his athletes to new heights.

According to Crossley, he places a strong emphasis on teamwork, competition, and personal growth, setting high expectations for the upcoming season. His journey into coaching track and field is rooted in his own high school experience. “I ran track in high school, and it was a sport that brought the whole school together,” he said. His role as a dean at Marian Catholic has allowed him to connect with students in a different way, further fueling his passion for coaching.

Crossley’s primary goal this year is team development. “Seeing the kids come together as a team is always a highlight for me,” he said. He believes the girls’ team has the potential to capture a state title and is determined to elevate both programs, particularly in relay events.

Several standout athletes are expected to make a significant impact this season. On the boys’ side, senior Danny Casprin will lead in the 3,200- and 1,600-meter races, while Zach Coleman and Harrison Russell are also poised for strong performances. Peyton Stoffregen, a basketball player transitioning to track, is another athlete Crossley is excited to see develop.

For the girls’ team, Autumn Price and Ava Holman are expected to be key contributors, while Baker is set to shine in the triple jump.

Beyond competition, Crossley emphasizes personal growth and team chemistry. “One of the ways we build camaraderie is through a team lock-in,” he said. The team also bonds after meets by celebrating with post-race meals.

Crossley also instills academic excellence among his athletes, noting that most maintain a GPA above 3.0, with the girls’ team averaging 3.6 and the boys’ team 3.7.

With experienced athletes and new talent alike, Crossley expresses confidence in his team’s ability to compete at a high level. “We want to make a bigger impact in the state series this year,” he said. “We have a strong chance to win a state title in our relays.”

As the season approaches, Marian Catholic’s track and field teams are prepared under Crossley’s leadership to take on competition with sights set on success at the state level.
