Zack Sharkey and Delan Davis each scored 18 points on Tuesday, leading Marian Catholic to a decisive 72-31 victory over St. Francis de Sales in the Aurelio’s Pizza Chicago Heights Classic.
According to the game statistics, Jordan Walker contributed 12 points, and Landon Mays added nine for the Spartans (2-0). The team widened their lead with a 21-6 scoring run in the second quarter. Marian shot 26-of-71 from the field, including eight three-pointers, as they overwhelmed St. Francis de Sales (0-1).
The visitors struggled offensively, managing just 11-of-40 from the field. St. Francis de Sales made four three-pointers but was limited to five free throws on 13 attempts, a percentage of 38.5%. In addition to Sharkey and Davis’s efforts, Walker’s scoring helped maintain Marian’s commanding lead, allowing them to build a 42-18 advantage by halftime.
Marian’s defense also played a significant role, forcing St. Francis de Sales into committing 17 fouls while Marian committed 18 themselves.
