Delan Davis scored a game-high 27 points, but Marian Catholic fell short in a 57-53 double-overtime loss to Lemont on Saturday during the Rose Classic at Mount Carmel High School.
According to the game report, the Spartans (6-2) struggled offensively in the middle quarters, managing just four points in both the second and third periods.
Despite a strong start and a late rally, Marian had a chance to win in the first overtime but missed all four of its free throws. Zack Sharkey added 13 points, and Terrell Morton contributed six, but the Spartans were hindered by free-throw difficulties.
Marian, which had been perfect from the foul line the previous day in a win over Joliet Catholic, missed nine free throws in this loss.
