Marian Catholic achieved a significant milestone on Saturday at the Great Lakes High School Fencing Conference Teams Championship by winning two trophies for the first time in its 19-year history.
According to reports, the men’s sabre squad, which includes sophomore Elijah Wagner and juniors Martin Leedy, Jeirmyri Liddell, and Luke Bubacz, secured third place in a competitive 15-team field. They defeated New Trier in the bronze medal match.
The women’s epee squad, composed of seniors Evelyn Rohn, Trinity Cowles, and Michelle Asenso-Bediako, claimed second place out of 13 teams. They were bested only by conference powerhouse Stevenson. This runner-up finish marks the first trophy won by the Marian Catholic women’s fencing program.
