Marian Catholic High School’s girls basketball team secured a decisive victory over Wheaton St. Francis with a 52-23 win in a non-conference game on Saturday, January 11th. The Spartans demonstrated their dominance with a remarkable 23-0 scoring run in the second quarter.
According to the game statistics, Marian Catholic (18-2) was led by Taylor Bolton and LaParis Poe, each contributing 15 points to the team’s total. Gracie Jensen and Nyila Williams added six points each. The team’s defense was instrumental in holding St. Francis (7-11) to just seven field goals throughout the game.
The Spartans’ offensive strategy saw them shooting 21-of-52 from the field and making three successful three-pointers, two of which were scored by Bolton. They also controlled rebounds effectively and made seven out of thirteen free throws.
Wheaton St. Francis faced challenges with their shooting performance, managing only 7 of 32 field goals and converting just 5 of their 14 free throw attempts.
