The Spartans fell to the Meteors, 49–43, in Friday’s women’s varsity basketball matchup at the Loyola Christmas Tournament.
The game took place on Dec. 26 at Loyola Academy in Wilmette.
Marian Catholic showed resilience in the Loyola Christmas Tournament, rallying with a strong fourth quarter to close the gap. The Spartans were led by Ty Jackson and Nyila Williams, who each scored 16 points, combining for more than two‑thirds of the team’s offense. Jordyn Hodges and Kaili Merrick added steady contributions with four points apiece, while RaKayla Spruill and Vesta Radziute chipped in to round out the scoring. Despite falling 49–43 to the Meteors, Marian’s late surge highlighted their determination and balanced team effort.
Up next: Marian Catholic returns home to host Benet Academy in a conference matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 7 in Chicago Heights. The Spartans enter the week with an 8–10 overall record, while Benet Academy stands at 12–1.
The Dec. 26 matchup marked the first meeting between the Marian Catholic Spartans and the Thornton Fractional North Meteors in women’s varsity play.
