Taylor Bolton scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds on Tuesday, leading Marian Catholic to a 45-22 victory over the host Wildcats in the Thornton Illinois High School Association (IHSA) 3A Regional Championship.
According to the report, the win marked the Spartans’ fourth consecutive regional title and their 27th overall. Marian Catholic, now with a record of 25-8 for the season, will advance to the Marian Catholic Sectional semifinal on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Chicago Noble/Butler.
Gracie Jensen contributed with a team-high nine rebounds, while Alainna Poisson added six assists in the win. The victory also marked Marian’s 25th win of the season, a milestone they have now reached for the 16th time in program history.
The Spartans controlled the game from start to finish, dominating both ends of the court and never allowing Thornton to get into a rhythm. According to reports, Marian’s balanced scoring and strong defense were key in securing the regional crown.
The team now looks ahead to the sectional tournament, eager to continue their postseason run and pursue another state championship.
