Marian Catholic wrestlers delivered strong performances at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 2A Boys Regional, facing tough competition in multiple weight classes.
In the 132-pound quarterfinals, Jeremiah Bolar of Marian Catholic competed against Kankakee senior Jakil Whalum but was defeated in a close 8-6 decision.
According to reports, at 175 pounds, Adrian Esparza advanced to the finals with a dominant technical fall victory over Kankakee’s Charles Hill, winning 17-1 in just 2 minutes and 31 seconds. In the 215-pound consolation bracket, August Tigue of Marian Catholic secured a victory over Kankakee’s Isai Brito with a pin at the 3:43 mark.
Marian Catholic continues to push forward as the postseason unfolds, with wrestlers striving for advancement in upcoming rounds.
