Marian Catholic’s volleyball team celebrated a championship victory at the Rich Township Invite on Oct. 5, outlasting Bradley-Bourbonnais 19-25, 25-23, 15-13.
The Spartans’ Olivia Helfen and Sarah Gordon stole the show, with Helfen delivering 12 kills and 16 digs, and Gordon securing 20 digs.
Kaitlyn Nichols and Zia Miller combined for 20 assists, while Zoey Crawford and Chioma Nwagwu contributed six and four kills, respectively.
The team’s seventh consecutive win improved their record to 10-9 and capped off a flawless 5-0 tournament run.
In semifinal action, Marian Catholic handled Argo Agronauts 25-14, 25-10, with Helfen and Gordon replicating their standout performances.
The team also cruised past TF North 25-13, 25-13 in pool play, behind Gordon’s 18 digs and Nichols’ 11 assists.
Eliza Skubisz and Nwagwu chipped in with key contributions, solidifying the Spartans’ status as tournament champions.
