Marian Catholic secured a decisive victory in its season opener on Tuesday, defeating Chicago Washington 10-0 in a nonconference match held at home.

The team’s success was largely attributed to pitcher Alex Kvasnicka, who delivered an impressive two-hit shutout and struck out nine batters. Kvasnicka also contributed significantly to the offense, hitting a grand slam and achieving seven RBIs, leading Marian Catholic to victory.

According to the game report, the Spartans quickly established control with early offensive plays. Joey Baranski excelled at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two doubles and scoring three times. Jonathan Trotter further contributed with a double and three runs.

Marian Catholic’s performance was marked by efficiency at the plate and disciplined fielding, which proved overwhelming for Chicago Washington. The team collected seven hits and played error-free baseball, excelling in all aspects of the game.

“We came out strong and executed well,” head coach David Letourneau said. “Alex had a great day both on the mound and with the bat, and our guys supported him well. It’s a great way to start the season.”

With this dominant shutout win, Marian Catholic aims to maintain its momentum as it prepares for upcoming games later this week. The team’s commanding performance sets a promising tone for the season ahead.
