Marian Catholic's boys volleyball team achieved a straight-sets victory over East Suburban Catholic Conference rival Saint Viator on Thursday night, with scores of 25-20 and 25-21.

According to the match details, senior outside hitter David Barlow led the Spartans with nine kills. Junior Carter Knueppel contributed seven kills, helping secure the win on their home court. The pair kept Saint Viator’s defense under pressure throughout the match.

Marian Catholic, now holding a record of 7-12 overall and 2-3 in the ESCC, benefited from steady setting by Diego Belmontes and Jack O’Shea. The two players combined for 18 assists, consistently setting up offensive opportunities and maintaining the Spartans’ rhythm on the floor.

Middle hitter Prince Trimuel added an additional spark at the net with four kills and two blocks. His presence in the front row was instrumental in limiting Saint Viator’s offensive momentum.

The victory ended a brief losing streak for Marian Catholic and marked a positive step forward in conference play. The team aims to build on this performance as it prepares for a challenging closing stretch of the regular season.

The Spartans will seek to continue their momentum in their upcoming match against Joliet Catholic.
